This trek takes you to the remote highland of Bhutan where you can see the culture of Layap community. Since the route is porn to high snow fall the passes are closed with thick snow. The best time for trekking is from April to June and from september to November.


Day 1

Begin the trekking by climbing through conifer forest and after few hours you will reach to Sharna Zampa. About 15 minutes beyond Sharna Zampa you will reach to Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National park. Continue hiking about two hours, then you will reach Shing Karap a stone house. Walk again for few hours you will reach a wooden bridge where you have to cross Paro chu. From there the route goes down and continue until you reach to camp site in Soi Yaksa. Follow the trial along Paro chu until you reach the place of Thangthangka.

Day 2

From early morning you will resume the journey by climbing up beyond the camp.By half an hour you will reach to the IMTART camp. Continue the hike untill you reach the village of Soe and an hour walk from Soe will lead to Takethang (Cluster of stone house). Traverse opposite side where you will see few houses of Dangochang and from here you have to climb steep uphill until you reac to camp site at Jangothang.

Day 3

From jangothang the slope is gentle and if you walk for four hours you will get an excellent view of Jichu Drakye. Then you will go up in the direction of Jhomolhari.

Day 4

This is the route from Jangothang to Lingzhi. Descend and cross a log bridge to the left pank of Paro chu and hike until you reach reach to the slope of Nyile La which is four hours walk from the camp site. The you can climb up towards north west and continue walking until you reach to Cha Shi Thang camp site. Then hike towards Lingzhi which is at the opposite side of Jaji Chu.

Day 5

The fifth day is from Lingzhi to Chebisa. Cross the stream below the Shachi Thang and climb up to opposite side of chorten below Lingzhi Dzong. About an hours from Lungzhi you will reach to Goyul. From Goyul you have to climb upfor one hour until you reach to chorten and then and take a short descent which will lead to Chebisa valley and it is your designated camp site.

Day 6

Climb up the hill behind Chebisa and at the altitude of 4440 m you will Gogula. Then the route descend down through rhododendron forest and to the stream. From there you should make a little clmb up and down to Shakshe-pasa which is the site for helipad.From here you should follow the trial up to the north until you reach to the valley of Shomuthang which is your camp site.

Day 7

From Shomuthang hike to Jhari la which is at the place of two hours from the camp site. Descend down the route until you reach Jholithang chu and cross the log bridge and follow the river upstream. Then you will reach to the Tsheri Jathang and climb up for few hours then you will reach to the camping place in Robulthang at 4160m.

Day 8

From the camp a route should lead up to the pass at Sinche La where you will see the snow cover on the peak of Gangchen Ta. Descend down the hill and cross the river called Kango chu and and follow the valley upward until you reach to Limithang Camp site.

Day 9-10

Here you will spend two days for trekking where you have to cross severalmuddy side streams, step rockymuntans and waterfall. After several adventure you will reach to Laya.

Day 11

Below the village of Laya the trial descend back to the river. Cross the river and climb up and you will reach to stone building of Army Camp. The follow the route down stream of Mo chu river and continue the journey until you reach to Bahitung Chu. Climb up again to reach Kohila and you will reach to the valley of Kohina.

Day 12

Cross the bridge at Kohina and start to hike up and after almost three hours of hiking you will reacch to Bari La and you should descend down through steep bamboo forestto a stream. The after few hours of walking you will reach to Gasa. There you will vist Gasa Dzong, Gasa town and Gasa Tsha chu which is famouse for hot stream Bathing.
